The Love Myself: Raising Global Awareness for Child Protection Based on UN-CRC and the Child Protection Act

The Love Myself campaign, a collaboration between BTS and UNICEF, focuses on raising awareness about the importance of self-love and reducing violence against children and adolescents. This research aims to analyse the impact of the Love Myself campaign on child protection in Indonesia within the framework of Law Number 35 of 2014 on Child Protection and the UN-CRC (United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child). The study employs a normative-empirical method with qualitative analysis to evaluate the campaign’s influence on public perception and actions toward protecting children’s rights. Data were collected through social media questionnaires and an analysis of Law Number 35 of 2014 on Child Protection, alongside the implementation of BTS’s Love Myself campaign. The study results demonstrate that the Love Myself campaign has a positive impact on raising public awareness regarding child protection. The campaign successfully encourages changes in societal attitudes and behaviours toward preventing child abuse. Additionally, it has positively influenced BTS fans by boosting their self-confidence, fostering self-love, and spreading positive messages to others. Overall, the Love Myself campaign has made a significant contribution to child protection efforts in Indonesia. However, collaborative efforts between the government, society, and non-governmental organizations remain essential to achieving the child protection goals mandated by Law Number 35 of 2014 concerning Child Protection.
